The heroic tale of one slightly squashed cane toad's travels across oceans and continents. And some really busy roads.

Limpy is fed up with seeing his relatives run over and when he hears of a place in the Amazon, where human and toad live together in harmony, he resolves to find this place for himself and to take his cousin Goliath with him. But the jungle is not the Utopia that Limpy had imagined and it takes the advice of some Amazonian cane toads and one wise man to finally find the secret of a harmonious life with humans.

Filled with humour and heart, Toad Away is a story about friendship, determination, and the power of one small voice to make a big difference.

Morris Gleitzman

Morris Gleitzman grew up in England and came to Australia when he was sixteen.

After university he worked for ten years as a screenwriter. Then he had a wonderful experience.

He wrote a novel for young people. Now, after 36 books, he's one of Australia's most popular children's authors.

In February 2018 Morris was chosen as the Australian Children’s Laureate for 2018-19.

I want to be an ambassador for the fears and hopes and dreams and dreads that young people have as they contemplate and navigate today’s world, and also as they think about the possibilities of their future adult worlds,’ Gleitzman said.

‘Much of my time will be spent championing stories as a medium for young people to engage creatively with those possibilities. Stories reveal themselves in our imaginations, our intellects and our emotions—all places where we work on our own destinies.’
