I bought this book almost entirely because I wanted to support silvousplaits (Shannon Burns youtube channel) because her video tutorials are quite good at explaining and demonstrating how to do these media based hairstyles.
Its a good DIY book with a front section containing the obligatory DIY book explanations of tools and techniques and the rest of the book filled with hairstyles divided by theme. The photos are beautiful, the graphics/diagrams are easy to understand and the font isn't too small. However some of the more complicated styles suffer from not enough diagrams and occasionally not very clear instructions (if you are, like me, the kind of person who has difficulty with written descriptions of 3D objects). If I had not already watched the videos for those styles beforehand, I would not be able to understand some of the instructions, which don't deviate much from the original script.
Personally, as a braid-a-holic, several of these styles were very easy to me and didn't require explanation beyond a clear picture so I felt they could have been left out in exchange for more complex styles (especially the male styles), but I understand not everyone braids as often as I do.
