"I always liked drawing and line...one reason is that it is so portable - you can always carry a pencil and paper with you, and once it becomes a habit it is as simple as keeping a diary, only it is a visual one." Beth Van Hoesen In a career spanning more than five decades, artist and printmaker Beth Van Hoesen (1926 - 2010) created a remarkable body of editioned art. This catalogue raisonne authoritatively documents and fully illustrates her work in limited-edition prints, books, and portfolios. Sample preparatory drawings and proofs with artist notes are featured, allowing for a more complete understanding of Van Hoesen's art. Beth Van Hoesen studied art at Stanford University, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1948. She also attended Escuela de Pintura y Escultura de la Escuela Esmeralda, Mexico City and California School of Fine Arts (San Francisco Art Institute).
