As heard on Radio 4 - the classic dark and hilarious take on mankind's final judgment, from bestselling authors Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman.

'Armageddon only happens once, you know. They don't let you go around again until you get it right'

People have been predicting the end of the world almost from its very beginning, so it's only natural to be sceptical when a new date is set for Judgement Day. But what if, for once, the predictions are right, and the apocalypse really is due to arrive next Saturday, just after tea? You could spend the time left drowning your sorrows, giving away all your possessions in preparation for the rapture, or laughing it off as (hopefully) just another hoax.

Or you could just try to do something about it.

Good Omens is the book that introduced me to both Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman, both authorial geniuses as far as I'm concerned. Funny, with some lovely black humour, intelligent, frivolous, and a great story to boot, this is a fantastically fun book to read, with some visuals that will stick in your brain for a long time to come.

I've owned 3 copies of this book. I lend them to people, telling them it's great and they don't come back. The books, that is, not the people. They love it so much they keep it for ages, until I've forgotten I gave it to them. Then I want to read it again, and have to buy another copy. This is the funniest book about the end of the world you will read, by two of fantasy's finest authors.
