Readers who are familiar with Paul Connolly’s Kitchen Sink Drama from the Good Weekend magazine will doubtless welcome the chance to revisit these delightful little tales; Kitchen Sink Drama novices are truly in for a treat.

Dedicated fans, those for whom this feature is the highlight of their weekend read, will likely fall into two camps: those that turn to it immediately for their fix, and those who leave it until the end, anticipating that little pleasure for their whole read. Presented with one hundred of these little pleasures, how will they solve their dilemma? Will they devour the lot in one sitting? Or will they eke it out, savouring each little morsel?

Connolly touches on a myriad of topics, many of which are bound to strike a chord: family holidays or first fatherhood, unrequited love, reindeer poo, teen rebellion, sheds and sleepless babies, dog names, manflu, car radio rights, book addicts, kitchen mess, ukuleles, bills, buried treasure, farting, tattoos, googling it, martyrdom, nostalgia, nits, and neighbours, cicadas, stepchildren and suburbs, to name but a few…

Short, they may be, but they are also clever, insightful, poignant, wise and highly amusing. While some are sober or a little sad, and readers might sometimes find they have a lump in the throat, more often will be smiling, chuckling, even laughing out loud. Each of these wonderfully original vignettes of life is enhanced with a colourful and (often) quirky illustration by Jim Pavlidis. So entertaining!
