Teresa Martinez grew up in a small town north of Mexico, playing in the river, walking with the cows, and feeding the neighbor's pigs.

Before becoming a children's book illustrator, she studied graphic design and spent many afternoons reading art books in the university library. She lives in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
