Our rover was stilled forever after exposing life on Mars. Long ago the Whiiir had been forced Inside their red planet by a terrible war which left the surface a wasteland. Now another world threatens as erratic alien machines crawl over their planet's surface. Clearly these intruders mean harm ...and must die. It was not their first interplanetary war and they'd learned a hard lesson from pulling punches long ago; Earth would not be given a chance to retaliate. It is the mid-twenty-first century for Earth and all is not well. With hundreds of millions already lost, the invaders from deep within Mars relentlessly consume humanity. Things look bleak for the human race. One man, Evan Roberts, may have a means to defend humanity but cannot recall - anything. His mind has been erased; no memories are available on his daunting quest for survival and self-discovery across a shattered America. In a manic sprint against time and the extinction of humankind itself, Evan seeks to regain his identity when, suddenly, a chance meeting with the enemy changes everything.
For countless millennia Whiiir society has stagnated under the repressive yoke of a theocracy where scientific endeavors are strictly constrained. Xeebaa is an archaeologist who uncovers radical sacrilegious truths; discoveries which could upend their heinous leaders' stranglehold on Whiiir and ultimately unite the peoples of two worlds. Her spouse is Tixal, parted by military duty as he campaigns to rid Earth of those troubling humans. Yet, something bothered him, a feeling that defied all justifications - something about humans. Proclaiming the shocking truth that she's uncovered, Xeebaa is censured as a heretic and pursued. With Tixal and his new alien friend they flee Whiiir in a daring escape. The three fugitives are left with only one place to go - Earth. Can they stop the war at the war or will they be discovered and destroyed? Both the future of Whiiir and fate of humanity rest in that balance.
