Award-winning poet and author Joseph Coelho presents a lyrical and emotional reflection on the effect of separation from a parent on a child.

Once a month, Dad takes his son to the barbers, come rain or shine. But when Dad disappears, this little boy's hair grows big, ginormous, out of control – and so do his feelings.

A touching and melodic story of family separation from a child's perspective from the author/illustrator duo who brought us the Amnesty International recommended picture book Luna Loves Library Day.

  • Instantly relateable for any parent or child going through a separation.
  • Featuring a 6pp gatefold - see the child's hair grow and grow as it opens out!
  • Joe Coelho won the CLPE Children’s Poetry Award with his first collection Werewolf Club Rules.

Fiona Lumbers

Fiona Lumbers has drawn on anything and everything from an early age and always insisted she would be an artist when she grew up. She moved to London in 2000 to study for an MA in Painting at the Royal College of Art.

A combination of her obsession with picture books and the arrival of her first son led her down the path of illustration and she hasn't looked back since.
