Gwendolyn Hooks

Gwendolyn Hooks is the author of Tiny Stitches: The Life of Medical Pioneer Vivien Thomas, which received an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Literary Work for Children. Hooks was born in Savannah, Georgia, and thanks to her Air Force dad, she also lived in Texas and Washington in the United States, and Italy. After teaching middle school math, Hooks decided to follow her passion to write books for children. Since then she has written several popular early readers for Stone Arch Books (Capstone), Just for You! (Scholastic), andBebop Books' (Lee & Low). Hooks lives in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, with her husband.

Margaux Carpentier

Margaux Carpentier is an illustrator and print maker based in London. She studied in both Paris and Surrey, and developed her unique graphic style by playing with pens and other mediums. Earthy and folk-inspired, her work also draws on fantastical elements and wild imagination.Her books for children include Someone LikeMe (2016, Concern Worldwide) and Inside Animals (2020, Wide-Eyed Editions).
