Duane Tudahl has worked in entertainment for over twenty-five years and has produced and/or directed documentary programming for the History Channel, CBS, GTV, Fox, Discovery, Pax, the Gospel Music Channel, the Food Channel, Tru-TV, and HGTV, among others. He has also been an editor on multiple Emmy-nominated programs, including Intervention, Unsolved Mysteries, and Cops. He has been writing about Prince and the Minneapolis music scene for over two decades. His first book Prince and the Purple Rain Era Studio Sessions won the 2018 ARSC Book Award for Best History in Rock Music. He has written the extended liner notes for the 2020 re-release of Sign "O" the Times.

Duane Tudahl, a self-proclaimed funk archivist/historian and author of the latest Prince
book - Prince and the Purple Rain era Studio Sessions: 1983-1984, has spent over 20 years
building and refining this labour of love.

The book is not only entertaining and deeply informative; but most importantly, an indispensible
historical document of perhaps the world's most elusive and culturally impactful artist achieving
full flight.
It is so vital, that all future releases of Purple Rain would be deemed incomplete without it.

Getting the inside scoop from those working around Prince, Duane has chronicled accounts giving us insight into events which perhaps led to motivations behind certain songs.
This fly-on-the-wall approach is the next-best-thing to being there yourself.

He takes us on a journey through the formation of protege bands The Time, Vanity 6, Apollonia 6 and indeed The Revolution themselves and goes into the backstory we won't get from listening to albums or attending shows: The very human saga of intra-band rivalry, jealousy, power struggles and control issues.
It's as though those surrounding him held up a mirror, thereby giving us a 360 degree view of the subject in the centre, Prince.
