Jillian Powell

Jillian Powell has an MA in English from Cambridge University and an M.Phil in Art History from the Courtauld Institute, London.

She is an experienced writer of children's fiction and non-fiction, and has written on many social issues.

Kate Scott

Kate Scott was born in London of American parents. She has lived in Hong Kong, Paris, Scotland and two tiny villages in France, but now lives in Dorset with her husband and two children. Kate's poems have been broadcast on BBC Radio 4 and her short fiction on Radio 4 Extra.

Her first published children's novel was Boy in Tights which developed into the three-book series, Spies in Disguise. Kate leads poetry workshops for children in conjunction with Tor Theatre and runs creative writing sessions with bookshops and schools across the UK.

Beatriz Castro

Beatriz Castro was born in La Rioja, Spain in 1985. When she was a little girl, she was always drawing and writing stories. She studied illustration at the school of arts in her home town, Logrono.

After graduating, she embarked on a career as a professional illustrator and has since been published by many international publishing houses. She especially enjoys creating funny characters.

Beatriz likes animals, classic stories and fairy tales and listens to rock and punk music.

Mark Chambers

Mark Chambers is an author and illustrator of children's picture books and young fiction. He studied Illustration at the University of London.

In 2017, he was shortlisted for the AOI World Illustration Awards, and in 2013 for the Roald Dahl Funny Prize. Since then Mark has illustrated a wealth of picture books and young fiction.

In 2013, he won the Sheffield Children's Picture Book Award and was also highly commended in the young fiction category. Mark currently lives and works in France.
