The Black Dagger Brotherhood: An Insiders Guide will be welcomed by die-hard fans of J.R.Wards Black Dagger Brotherhood series. Firstly, it contains a novella previously only available electronically, Father Mine, which is a charming short story about Zsadists coming to terms with fatherhood. This is followed by the Brotherhood Dossiers, a section each for Wrath, Rhage, Zsadist, Butch, Vishous and Phury which details vital stats, a cute interview that J.R.Ward conducts with each character, a summary of each of the first six novels in the series, detailing the characters, and places and craft comments providing analytical insight into how each novel was created. This last section gets a bit tedious and some of it seems a bit self-serving. Ward follows this with advice for writers, the original BDB proposal and deleted scenes, some of which are quite interesting. Kicks and giggles reprises some of the best exchanges between the characters and Wards favourite LOL moments. The banter between the brothers is always a strength in these novels. The Message Boards is meant to add more to this fun section but is rather ho hum. Slices of Life are interesting bonus pages that add to the whole BDB experience; Q and A is also interesting and the BDB Time Line is a handy inclusion. Finally, a cute section where the brothers interview J.R. and In Memorium, a slice of life dedicated to Wellsie. A must-have for BDB fans.
