"My hope is that the book goes some way to helping people live more courageously, more honestly and with more love for themselves and others."
Charlie Mackesy

"From seemingly divine inspiration Charlie drew the most beautiful images of the boy, the mole and later the horse and fox. Their cosy, timeless and relatable beauty give people a moment away from busy, modern culture; to harness a nostalgia they had no idea they needed. His characters hit home in a way that has helped thousands of people. Charlie’s work has given people the licence to be vulnerable again (even grown men), and to remember the importance of all the things recent society has not valued as success - kindness, openness, honesty, connection, wonder, friendship and love. The world needs Charlie’s work right now."
Miranda Hart

The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and The Horse is a book of words and pictures by British cartoonist and illustrator, Charlie Mackesy. The title explains the subject. It is filled with stylistic illustrations and the text is painted, in a style almost reminiscent of calligraphy. There are many wise words is this book about friendship.
“’What do you think in the biggest waste of time?’
‘Comparing yourself to others,’ said the mole.”

“One of our greatest freedoms is how we react to things”

“Don’t measure how valuable you are by the way you are treated”

This is a beautiful book that would make the perfect gift for someone who needs to feel valued.

I purchased two of this book for my grandchildren (5) two families, aging from 7 years to 12, they really enjoyed it and loved the sayings in the book, my granddaughter took her book to school, and her teacher read it to the class, everyone enjoyed it. It’s a book to just pick up and read different pages, the all have something to give, and learn by to any age person, children to adults, I should have purchased one for myself!

In the 90s it was Life's Little Instruction Book that parents bought for their children (young and old) as a guide on how to approach life - remember that little one with the tartan cover? This is the family tome now for mental health, for heartfelt drawings with movement and classical simplicity, for a touch of A. A. Milne and for the perfect phrasing of Charlie Mackesy - highly recommend following his instagram page and listening to his TEDx talk online.
