Over 50 years on, John Wyndham’s The Day of the Triffids has not lost the ability to scare and inspire. Often quoted as inspiration for HG Well’s war of the worlds, this is a must read for all sci fi fans.
Set it post ww2 England, you can really feel the undertone of Soviet Union fear permeating the setting of the story, yet at its core, The Day of the Triffids is a story about human experiences in drastic circumstances.
A short read and definitely enjoyable.
