With the ghostly help of the First Rider, Karigan G'ladheon had transported the corrupt spirit of Monrhavon the Black into the future, buying valuable time for her king and country. The D'Yer Wall, protecting Sacoridia from the dark, corrupted Blackveil forest, remains breached despite Karigan and her fellow Riders best efforts. They've scoured the land searching for lost documents and magical clues to help mend the breach, fend off any incursions from Blackveil Forest and, more pressingly, protect them from Mornhavon's return.

Nor is the breach in the wall the only danger. Mornhavon may have gone, but the descendants of his people remain and they're ready to claim the land that their forefathers failed to conquer. These vengeful enemies, hidden within the peaceful borders of Sacoridia, have spent generations honing their dark magic ready to strike and ensuring that their blow, when it comes, will be one that Karigan and the Sacordians have no defence against...

So the third in the series...the story and plot continues to enthrall and tease, the characters continue to develop and suck you in...The action might not be quite to the form of the first tow, and certainly the gore factor has increased, I found myself wincing and even turning away a few times, but I still couldn't put it down 'til the end....it has to be said the ongoing love saga of will they or won't they is getting a bit old, and I am fearful that Kristen is painting herself and the characters into a corner that they can not emerge from satisfactorily without compromising their integrity or that of the overall story...Come on Kristen just do it already...we all want them to be together, what's the point of continuing the story otherwise?? ..or is that the point to keep us hooked...the romantic in me is certainly NOT HAPPY Jan!!!
