The Bizarre, Often Sordid, Passings of More than 125 American Movie and TV Idols
Paperback
Publication Date: 16/11/2001
An encyclopedic treatment of the often unusual deaths of some of Hollywood's most famous stars, The Hollywood Book of Death contains one- to two-page accounts of the lives and deaths of over 125 movie and TV stars grouped by type of death--i.e. Alcohol and Drugs, In Obscurity, Suicides, Puzzling Deaths, Murders, etc. Author James Robert Parish, a Hollywood authority who has appeared as an interviewee on numerous TV show's like A&E's "Biography," has written over 90 books. His accounts of these stars are wonderfully dry and vastly entertaining, and the whole package is enhanced by the great photos he's managed to track down. Two prior editions of this book were published in 1992 and 1993 by a company called Pioneer Books in Las Vegas. This company soon went out of business, which isn't surprising considering how poorly the two prior editions were published--sloppy editing, unreadable type on the cover, hideous interior layout. Nonetheless the 1993 edition netted 20,000 copies and is selling on Alibris.com for the hefty sum of $575.
