This book is the definitive work on rennes-le-chateau and the priory of sion by the only man who has had access to all the major players, places and papers, containing copies of key documents such as stone and paper (pierre et papier), and vital information gleaned from his contact with the propagators of the priory of sion - pierre plantard, phillipe de cherisey and gerard de sede.

Is the priory of sion a thousand year old secret society dedicated to the protection of a two thousand year old 'heretical' bloodline descended from the founder of christianity?

Or is the priory of sion a modern invention, whose true purpose and goal has yet to be fully revealed?

This first book in the series will examine the priory of sion and its membership during the crucial 1950s period. This was a period of intense political upheaval in france and europe, when the forces of conservatism and the forces of modernism clashed in a desperate battle to control the soul of france.

At the heart of the story of the priory of sion is the somewhat heretical notion that jesus christ - the supposed son of god - fathered children. Not only that but that his bloodline survives to this day. If true, the idea has a huge impact on the very existence of christianity, the world's most popular religion.

As a Protestant, I have always thought the bloodline conspiracy (that Jesus married Mary Magdalene and produced offspring) was so flawed because it has no flaw! We believe that Jesus died free of sin. Christianity depends on this. If information were to come forward that provided evidence that Jesus did sin, then yes that would be the end of the religion. Marriage followed by procreation is not a sin! Jesus could have married (and since his wife is God then she just like us has sinned). It makes no difference what Mary Magdalene did before they married. All sins are equal...this book provided the closest reason why this scenario could be a problem for the Catholic church in that the Pope would have his authority challenged. The new testament makes clear that all people can come to God through Jesus. So I still think it would have been better if the conspiracy theory was something that could ruin the church. Learned a lot about the research, or lack thereof, the authors put in.
