To most folks in the Midwestern town, they're just a normal girl and her pet dog—but what few of them notice is how she never attends school and carries on long, one-sided conversations with the plucky Boston Terrier. They also don't realize she wears a unique pink scarf year-round that seems to have a shifting pattern. Luckily for those same townspeople, the two friends are attuned to everything happening in their community.

Abigail and Zack discover the grand opening of a sinister business that coincides with a dozen citizens going missing. The girl and her dog are the only ones standing between a scheming, greedy doctor and their small town's future. But they can handle it. After all, it's their job.
