As an adolescent, I was not very interested in going to mass on Sundays. I attended the local Catholic school and had my fill of “that kind of thing” during the week. But I was interested in spiritual things. I was haunted by life’s big questions, most of which started with “why.” I sought a purpose for my life and leaned on God for my sanity during a turbulent adolescence.

Many years later, I am now a Catholic school teacher. I strive to take my students deeper into the faith—beyond the mostly superficial information in textbooks. When it comes to teaching religion, it is more than a subject—it is a way of life! This book is written for teachers who are seeking to delve deeper into catechesis than most religion textbooks guiding young disciples by creating an active learning environment.
