The conflict between Israelis and Palestinians has a long history dating from the end of WW2.

And well before that, there was the centuries old history of Roman conquests, Islamic empires, religious wars, crusaders wars, fighting over the holy land and Jerusalem, and other bloody conflicts in the region.

The latest flare-up of the war on October 7, soon to be known as 107 Hamas-Israel war, was particularly tragic.

The way Israel flattened whole neighborhoods and killed thousands of Gaza civilians in its daily air strikes on Gaza demonstrated the incredibly destructive power of air raids and air bombardment in war. The intense bombardment may be designed to kill Hamas militants and destroy Hamas as an organization, but there is no question that even smart bombs have no eyes and Gaza civilians are being killed in the thousands.

This is the terror of remote targeting and remote killing that first came to the world's attention in the murderous killer drones (appropriately called the predators) used by American forces in Afghanistan against the Talebans.

Can the politicians around the world work together in earnest to save earth and humanity? Can they stop fighting constantly for their selfish national interest and national security?

Can we break the vicious cycle of selfishness, exploitation, prejudice, hatred and violence to build a word of peace and harmony for all humankind?
