This publication, Army Regulation AR 611-1 Military Occupational Classification Structure Development and Implementation July 2019, prescribes the method of developing, changing, and controlling the officer, warrant officer, and enlisted military occupational classification structures.

This regulation applies to the Regular Army, the Army National Guard/Army National Guard of the United States, and the U.S. Army Reserve, unless otherwise stated. It also applies to all proponent agencies responsible for military occupational structure and classification. During mobilization, chapters and policies contained in this regulation may be modified by the proponent.

This regulation prescribes policies and responsibilities for developing, maintaining, evaluating, and revising the military occupational classification structure (MOCS) for officer branch, warrant officer branch, and enlisted career management.
