The Death of a Superwoman series of books is an embellished autobiographical work depicting the life of a first generation American woman. The superwoman is a psychological syndrome that finds women needing to be perfect in multiple roles as professionals, wives, mothers, and homemakers resulting in the neglect of their own needs as individuals and adding stress when taking time for themselves.
The Building Blocks is the first book in the five book series that emphasizes the female role in society that has existed for millennia. It subtly reveals how a girl inherits the responsibilities that are put on the female gender. It is not only the inherited traits that have been passed down from generation to generation but also the influence of the people that enter her life and the societal expectations that are put upon her.
This work tells of the building blocks of past generations that make Maxella an individual. It describes her family history and the individuals that shape her life. It reveals the inner strength that is reinforced in her early childhood her homosexual experimentation, her role as a second class member of her family, and the degradation she experiences as she begins dating.
