READ IT BECAUSE

Discover some of the many warbands who battle endlessly in the darkness of Beastgrave in a selection of tales that pit them against one another in desperate struggles for survival.

THE STORY

Beastgrave is starving. Poisoned from the inside by the treacherous Katophrane Curse, the Ur-Mountain forever calls warriors to its bloody depths in its desperation. Myriad warbands answer from across the Mortal Realms, some seeking treasure, others power, and yet more wishing only to kill. None find what they came for, and even death is denied those who enter Beastgrave’s halls.

Now, a new area has yawned open, the Direchasm a place of darkness where warbands fight endlessly. Some, like Myari’s Purifiers noble scions of the Lumineth Realm-lords have come to purge the taint from the mountain. Others, such as The Dread Pageant, seek any sign of Slaanesh, and will stop at nothing until the lost deity is found. To achieve their goals, both must battle the likes of The Wurmspat, Rippa’s Snarlfangs and The Grymwatch. Beastgrave demands blood, but those who enter its caverns soon find themselves lost to its fury, doomed to fight an endless war.

Dale Lucas

Dale Lucas is a novelist, screenwriter, civil servant, and armchair historian from St. Petersburg, Florida. Once described by a colleague as 'a compulsive researcher who writes fiction to store his research in,' he's the author of numerous works of fantasy, neo-pulp and horror.

When not writing or working, he loves travel, great food, and amassing more books than he'll ever be able to read. 'Blessed Oblivion' is his first outing for Black Library.

Danie Ware

Danie Ware is the author of the novellas The Bloodied Rose, Wreck and Ruin and the short story 'Mercy', all featuring the Sisters of Battle. She lives in Carshalton, south London, with her son and two cats and has long-held interests in role-playing, re-enactment, vinyl art toys and personal fitness.

Ben Counter

Ben Counter is a lifelong gamer and miniature enthusiast living in the UK, near Portsmouth. He is best known for his series of novels for Games Workshop including the Grey Knights and Soul Drinkers series, and has also written supplements for roleplaying games including Dark Heresy, Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay and World of Darkness. He is a founder of Death Spiral Games, publisher of the RPG Sleeper- Orphans of the Cold War.

Trademarks of his fiction include flights of Moorcockian strangeness, gruesome horror, blood-spattered action scenes and stratospheric body counts. A connoisseur of creative ways to waste time, he is a passionate (and, he likes to point out, award-winning) miniature painter, as well as a regular at his local game shop where he can be found playing miniature wargames, refereeing tournaments of Magic- the Gathering or running RPGs.

Thomas Parrott

THOMAS PARROTT grew up reading science fiction and fantasy. This was compounded by the discovery of video games and tabletop roleplaying, leading to a life of dealing with the mundane while dreaming of dragons.

He has written Isha’s Lament, The Test of Faith, and Loyal to the End, all for the Warhammer 40,000 setting, as well as short fiction for Arkham Horror and KeyForge anthologies.

C L Werner

C L Werner's Black Library credits include the Age of Sigmar novels Overlords of the Iron Dragon and The Tainted Heart, the novella Scion of the Storm in Hammers of Sigmar, the Warhammer novels Deathblade, Mathias Thulmann: Witch Hunter, Runefang and Brunner the Bounty Hunter, the Thanquol and Boneripper series and Time of Legends: The Black Plague series. For Warhammer 40,000 he has written the Space Marine Battles novel The Siege of Castellax. Currently living in the American south-west, he continues to write stories of mayhem and madness set in the Warhammer worlds.

Anna Stephens

Anna Stephens has worked in a variety of roles over the years, the latest being in corporate communications for an international law firm. She's currently living the dream as a full-time writer and hopes never to have to get a proper job again.

Anna loves all things speculative and horrifying, from books to film to TV, and is a second Dan black belt in Shotokan Karate, as well as a keen weightlifter and beginner swordfighter.
