Alex, age eleven, enjoys exploring the park close to his house and is constantly looking for new adventures. He hears a sweet meowing one beautiful afternoon and finds a little, shivering kitten with glistening coat and emerald-green eyes. Without realizing it, he gives her the name Ember and brings her home, but their encounter marks the start of an incredible journey. Odd things begin to happen in Ember’s vicinity. A mystical glow envelops them and plants blossom as they pass.

One day Ember changes into a little dragon with scales and wings, she reveals to Alex that she is a dragon in disguise who was brought to the human world in order to protect her from a malevolent entity that aims to subjugate magical creatures.

Stories about Ember’s homeland, a secretive place where dragon coexist peacefully, are told. She shares with Alex a prophecy that says a human will help the dragons during their darkest hour. Ember thinks Alex is really that human, and that their encounter wasn’t by chance. Alex agrees to assist her, both excited and afraid. He picks up magic and becomes proficient with minor spells under Ember tutelage. As they get ready to confront the approaching danger, their relationship gets stronger.

In an effort to save both universes, Alex and Ember set out to locate Ember’s family. As they make their way through enchanted forests and deserted lands, they come across different magical beings. They rescue imprisoned fairies along the road, and were gifted a magical map that leads to an old cave. There they come upon an item that disclose the plans of the evil sorcerer Malakar to combine the human and dragon worlds and use dragon magic for his own benefit.

Alex and Ember follow the map to the dragon realm, where they find a mysterious portal concealed under a waterfall. They arrive to a stunning setting and are greeted by the dragon council and Ember’s family. Malakar has taken the Heart of the Dragon, a potent relic required to preserve equilibrium, according to the council. They have to get it and bring the natural order back to totally defeat him.

An army of dark monsters has been gathered by the evil sorcerer Malakar. Although Alex and Ember’s initial meeting with his henchmen was intense, they were able to repel them. They aim to sneak inside Malakar’s stronghold after realizing how urgent the situation is. As they get ready for the risky endeavor, their friendship and cooperation give them hope.

When Alex and Ember arrive at Malakar’s stronghold, they encounter many difficulties. They face off against Malakar in a dramatic battle, and they vanquish him with the help of the Heart of the Dragon’s might and their combined powers. Malakar’s evil spells are defeated, and equilibrium is restored. In the dragon realm, Alex and Ember are hailed as heroes after peace is restored. Alex declines the offer of a place to stay and decide to head back home with Ember. Together they carry on their adventures to their home.

In celebration of their triumph, Alex and Ember go to the festival of light in the dragon realm. An elderly dragon warns them of possible danger ahead, and suggests that there would be additional adventures. Alex and Ember visit the Enchanted library in order to unearth threats that still exist. There, they discover about the Shadow Realm, the origin of the evil magic that gave Malakar his power, and a darker entity referred to as the Dark Heart.

They go in search of the lightstone, and with the force of the alliance of light they combat the Dark Heart. With a rugged confidence and mountainous determination, they crush the Dark Heart and once again bring peace and unity to all realms.
