A poetic ode to the freedom of a summer day spent doing nothing but imagining.
On a hot summer day that’s lasted forever, two brothers stretch out in an abandoned car in a strip-mall parking lot. They pass the time thinking up another place and scattering ketchup-soaked fries to attract the garbage gulls. Just the right amount, the older boy says, so enough will come. Enough to lift them in their tangle of wings and take them to the beach.
Children will be transported through the clouds to the delights that lie beyond in this richly imagined gem of a picture book.
