Western Crime Fiction
I mean to keep this plain, so it won’t cloud the path ahead and confuse my account: The charges laid against me were founded and accurate.
I never denied them. I put the man down. I’ve gathered some fame for the just deaths I’ve handed out, notable for their lethal precision at very long range. No good killer enjoys the sunlight for long without expecting some harm waiting on him, from a safe spot in the shade. I’m accustomed to being the killer. Good or not, I’ve never missed the warmth of innocence and admiration when I’m the one standing in the shadows.
The question is not am I guilty, it is why have I become the target?
My name is Hollow Grim.
I live on a wide dirt road rolling west called Progress Township, Nevada. On this worn leather landscape the predators are always the last men standing. That is, until their warranted death puts them under the line of my rifle. Today there is one more predator looking up at desert dirt, cut down by my bullet and the detail trail left hidden behind his evil deeds. This might make me seem like the hero, the one every nickel book story needs, but not every story needs that kind of fiction. I am a hunter of killers, feared and not respected; I am the man who comes for the second eye as payment for the first.
I am not the hero here.
