Tom Angleberger

Tom Anglebergeris the bestselling author of many books for children, including the beloved Origami Yoda series, the Qwikpick Papers series, and the Inspector Flytrap series. He lives in Virginia.

Max Brallier

Max Brallier is the author of more than twenty books and games. He writes children’s books and adult books, including the pick-your-own-path adventure Can YOU Survive the Zombie Apocalypse? In the olden days, he worked in the marketing department at St. Martin’s Press. Max lives in New York City with his wife, who is way too good for him.

Pablo Cartaya

Pablo Cartaya is an award-winning author, screenwriter, speaker, and occasional actor. He is the Pura Belpre Honor Book Award winner for The Epic Fail for Arturo Zamora; an Audie Finalist for Audiobook of the Year in the Middle Grade Category (for which he narrated); an ALSC notable book of the year for Marcus Vega Doesn't Speak Spanish; and the 2020 Schneider Family Book Award Honor winner for his middle grade novel, Each Tiny Spark.

J. C. Cervantes

J. C. Cervantes is the author of Tortilla Sun, which was called "a beautiful and engaging debut" by Kirkus, an "imaginative, yet grounded novel" by Publishers Weekly, and "lean and lightly spiced with evocative metaphor" by School Library Journal. Tortilla Sun was a 2010 New Voices pick by the American Booksellers Association and it was named to Bank Street's 2011 Best Book List. When Jennifer isn't reading or writing, she helping her husband with his gubernatorial campaign.

Rex Ogle

Rex Ogle was born and raised mostly in Texas. He received the 2020 YALSA Excellence in Nonfiction Award for his memoir Free Lunch. A former children's book editor in New York City, Rex now lives in Los Angeles with his partner.

Adam Gidwitz

Adam Gidwitz grew up in Baltimore, USA. Now he lives in Brooklyn and teaches kids large and slightly less large at Saint Ann's School. Adam always writes about things that he's experienced personally.

So, while all of the dark and grim things in this book really did happen to Hansel and Gretel, they also happened to Adam. Of course, if you've ever had a childhood, they've probably happened to you too. 

Veera Hiranandani

Veera Hiranandani has an MFA in Fiction Writing from Sarah Lawrence College, spent six years as a book editor, and is the author of the middle grade novel The Whole Story of Half a Girl as well as the chapter book series, Phoebe G. Green. She is the proud mom of two emerging foodies who even like to eat their vegetables (most of the time). She lives with her husband and children in New York.

Hena Khan

Hena Khan is the author of Golden Domes and Silver Lanterns: A Muslim Book of Colors, Crescent Moons and Pointed Minarets: A Muslim Book of Shapes, Night of Moon: A Muslim Holiday Story, and other books for children.

Hena is a native of Rockville, Maryland, where she lives with her husband and their two sons.

Gordon Korman

Gordon Korman wrote his first book at age fourteen and since then has written more than eighty middle grade and teen novels. Favorites include the New York Times bestselling The 39 Clues: Cahills vs. Vespers, Book One: The Medusa Plot; Ungifted; Pop; and Schooled. Gordon lives with his family on Long Island, New York.
