First published in 1902, ‘Just So Stories’ is a classic collection of animal fables and poetry by Rudyard Kipling, the popular British Victorian writer, English journalist, poet, and novelist.This collection evolved out of nighttime story-telling between Rudyard and his daughter Josephine. The peculiar name is drawn from her insistence that these tales, which were origin stories describing how animals got their most unique features, be told: “just so”. It is an amusing and timeless collection of children’s stories that makes for excellent bedtime reading. The stories are primarily animal-based, and constitute some of Kipling’s best-known works.
