Kim Kardashian is one of the world’s most influential social media personalities. Her career has taken her from a little known beauty therapist, and friend of socialite, Paris Hilton, to a multi-million-dollar success story, business entrepreneur, model, author, and one of the most recognizable celebrities in the world. How did Kim’s journey gain so much traction in such a short space of time? In this book, we will discuss Kim's life, her family, her love life, her business ventures, and her scandals.

For anyone who has been sleeping under a rock since 2007, the “self-made,” queen of reality TV has fronted her family docuseries, Keeping Up with the Kardashians, (or KUWTK or short). Her wild antics are constantly reported in the news, with a little help from her mother, Kris Jenner, if the rumors are to be believed. Kim Kardashian divides public opinion as people both love and hate her and her family.

Whether you love or hate her, Kim Kardashian’s fame, fortune and success speaks for itself. She’s a diligent and hardworking mother of four, who’s crafted a name for herself, alongside her family, but still maintains an individual persona who continues to captivate people across the globe.

Matthew Spencer was a journalist at The Australian for twenty years, with long stints running the Foreign News desk and as Opinion Editor. He has written for newspapers and magazines in Uganda and Kenya and been published in The Australian Financial Review and The Sydney Morning Herald.

He was born in Parramatta. The son of teachers, he lived with his sister Kate on the 320-acre campus of a boys' boarding school. Long summers on the largely deserted property while exploring the remnant bush with its tributary of the Parramatta River inspired this book. Black River is to be published by Allen and Unwin in June 2022. Matthew lives in Sydney with his wife, Ritu Gupta, and their three children.
