Yvonne Battle-Felton

Yvonne Battle-Felton was born in Pennsylvania, raised in New Jersey and lived in Maryland for 20 years before moving to the UK. She holds an MA in Writing from Johns Hopkins University and a PhD in Creative Writing from Lancaster University. She is a Lecturer in Creative Writing and Creative Industries at Sheffield Hallam University.

In 2017, Yvonne won the Northern Writer's Fiction Award for Remembered, was commended for children's writing at the Faber Andlyn BAME (FAB) Prize and was shortlisted for the Words and Women Competition. Most recently, she was shortlisted for the Sunderland University Waterstones SunStory Award.

Sufiya Ahmed

Sufiya Ahmedwas born in India and arrived in the UK as a baby. She lived in Bolton, Lancashire, before moving to London where she still lives. Sufiya has worked in advertising and in the House of Commons, but is now a full-time author.

In 2010 Sufiya set up the BIBI Foundation, a non-profit organisation, to arrange visits to the Houses of Parliament for diverse and underprivileged school children. She wrote this book about a kind-hearted bandari and a silly old magarmach after listening to her mother's tales about the Indian jungle.

Maisie Chan

Maisie Chan is a British-born Chinese author. She has written early reader books for Hachette and a collection of fairy tales, myths and legends in Stories From Around the World for Scholastic, as well as many stories for The Big Think: a well-being curriculum based around stories for primary school children. She also started the group Bubble Tea Writers to support and encourage new British East Asian writers in the UK. Originally from Birmingham, Maisie now lives with her family in Glasgow.

Poonam Mistry

Poonam Mistry is a UK-based freelance illustrator with a degree in graphic design and illustration.

Her work is heavily influenced by nature, folklore, and traditional Indian art.

Poonam creates artwork for advertising, packaging, and greeting cards.
