Leadership is the ability to influence positive change that will transform the lives of the led. It is helping others to discover who they are (values), and what they should be doing/going (vision). Through leadership, followers are moulded to become leaders. The validity of leadership is then seen in the lives of those a leader is leading, which requires these two vital elements, vision and values.
A leader is one that has knowledge of leadership and also how to apply it to practical living. But leadership is not all about having head knowledge, but a heart for the people. Today, many nations and organisations are filled with many Doctors of Philosophy but still sick and suffering with wrong philosophies and ideologies, many are underperforming and running bankrupt; they are doctors that cannot solves real life issues. If knowledge is the only factor for a good leadership professor would have topped the chart of best leaders of all time. But that being not the fact proves true of the statement of Theodore Roosevelt that “people do not care how much you know until they know how much you care.” The act of showing care validates what you know.
