Witty, wise and lively, Nina's book transports and illuminates. You'll be educated and entertained.' - Claudia Karvan

A stunningly-written memoir and manifesto about the ethics of modern travel. In this unique and inspiring book, travel journalist Nina Karnikowski takes an expedition to the very essence of travel, reflecting on the profound and transformative experiences to be had heading into the wild or just staying put, and demonstrating how to travel in a way that is as nourishing for the places we visit as they are for us.

Sharing evocative stories from a life spent travelling the world and learning from the wisdom of nature, Nina provides a roadmap for anyone looking to broaden their horizons while learning to better care for our environment - by hiking, camping, learning from indigenous communities, forest bathing, gardening, meditating and more.

Nina Karnikowski

Nina Karnikowski created a living living by fusing her two passions: writing and travelling. Based in Byron Bay, Australia, she lives in a treehouse-inspired home with her husband, Pete, and maremma, Milka.

Nina's career has seen her journeying through Mongolia in ex-Russian military vehicles, exploring the Namibian desert in open-sided safari trucks and dodging icebergs in Antarctica in an icebreaker ship, and beyond, to over 60 countries.

Nina regularly writes travel stories for newspapers, magazines and websites. Her work has been featured in Get Lost magazine, Sophisticated Traveler and SMH Traveler.
