Bad things come in pairs. Miss Tayke contracts a virulent chest infection and is confined to her sick bed resulting in having to miss out on the opening performance of a new play at the Grand Theatre. Just four days into the run the playwright is callously murdered by an injection of potassium cyanide in his drink at the stalls bar during the interval. Despite apathy from the local CID Miss Tayke investigates from her sick bed and snares the murderer.
