As a sansei (third-generation Japanese American), Dennis was born into the baby boomer era and is a Vietnam veteran. He is a bonsai sensei (master) and trailblazing aesthetic pruner, in practice for over four decades. He also emerged as an early advocate for the farm-to-table produce movement.
