LUCY DELROSE, a commercial fisherwoman and co-owner of DELROSE MARINA DOCK in Bunge County, Mississippi, was shocked when her ex-husband, DONNY STEWARD, floated out from under her dock early on a June morning - dead. Lucy had two questions: 1) Who killed Donny; and, 2) What was Donny doing in town since their divorce?
DONNY was a wife beater. Lucy had divorced him eight years ago in Louisiana. Donny and his family dealt in illegal drugs. A few weeks after the divorce, Lucy found out she was pregnant. She gave birth to her son: JOEY DELROSE and never told her ex-husband.
Lucy spent the next seven years honing her skill as a commercial fisherwoman from her grandmother, LUCILLE DIANE DELROSE, co-owner of the DelRose Marina Dock, and their employee and friend, an elder African-American man - MR. WILLIAM WILKES.
SHERIFF WARE of Bunge County investigated Steward's death. Donny's parents, the STEWARDS, served notice of visitation documents on Lucy tha would give them a say over Joey.
Lucy DelRose found herself attracted to a half-breed Indian who lived on the banks of the Mississippi River - RENE CARON, boat builder and marina technician.
Drug dealers stalked Lucy and her employee, Mr. Wilkes, relentlessly trying to recover something Donny had on him the night he was killed.
Lucy waged a raging storm, snakes, alligators, and the force of the Mississippi River to protect her family from certain death at the hands of the drug dealers.
