This book used the photos, newspapers, posters and other materials of those years, reappear the following main scenes during the Cultural Revolution: the mass revolt organizations responded to Chairman Mao’s call of “Bombard the headquarters”, after January 1967, the revolts in Shanghai and Harbin seized the power from the Municipal Party Committee or Provincial Party and established “Paris Commune style”---“Shanghai People’s Commune” and “Harbin People’s Commune”, Guizhou rebels seized power and established the “Mao Zedong Thought Guizhou Provincial Revolutionary Committee”, later, Mao directed that the new regime should all called the Revolutionary Committee. At this time, the high-level of the CPC Central Committee had the power struggle of “February Countercurrent” and “Counterattack February Countercurrent”. The provinces successively set up revolutionary committees, but the new regime committees were not elected, so the violent fighting between seizing power and anti-seizing power continued. Deng Xiaoping came out after Lin Biao’s downfall but had to struggle with the “Gang of Four”, and there was again a breathtaking palace coup after Mao’s death, etc. Mao and Jiang Qing struggle with Lin Biao group are introduced in volume 9 of this series.
