Buttercup Academy is no ordinary school. It’s a boarding facility for privileged children, but within its aging walls lie mysteries, hidden secrets and untold stories.

Birdy Finch, aged 12, is a pupil who finds school life difficult to navigate. She doesn’t quite fit in with her fellow classmates, but eventually finds comfort in the friendship of like minded peers who feel just as awkward as her.

Birdy’s love of detective stories, her curious nature and adventurous personality result in the formation of BADASS, Buttercup Academy Detective ASSociation.

Together, Birdy and the BADASS gang embark on their first major investigation when their headteacher, Dr Artemis, is unexpectedly replaced by Wanda Wrinklefinger and her nosey feline.
