Its pages traverse the realms of Gothic horror, romanticism, and folklore, creating a diverse ensemble that pays homage to the spectral spectrums of these creatures. From the spine-chilling thrills of vampiric tales to the mystique of the lycanthropic mythos, the anthology showcases pieces that are not only integral to genre literature but also reflective of their respective eras' societal anxieties and fascinations. The anthology presents an eclectic collection contributed by literary stalwarts such as Rudyard Kipling, Marie de France, and Robert E. Howard, alongside other prolific voices. Their stories tap into historical and cultural veins that have fed into the metamorphosis of these myths over time. This collection harmonizes narratives from diverse literary movements, from the Gothic revival to the romanticized horror of the 19th century, and extends into the pulp fiction excitement of the early 20th century. The culmination of these varied backgrounds results in a rich exploration of the cultural significance surrounding these legendary figures. Rudyard Kipling

Rudyard Kipling was born in India in 1865. After intermittently moving between India and England during his early life, he settled in the latter in 1889, published his novel The Light That Failed in 1891 and married Caroline (Carrie) Balestier the following year.

They returned to her home in Brattleboro, Vermont, where Kipling wrote the two Jungle Books and Captains Courageous.

He continued to write prolifically and was the first Englishman to receive the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1907 but his later years were darkened by the death of his son John at the Battle of Loos in 1915. He died in 1936.
