Tanzania is an East African nation that is located quite close to the Equator. Tanzania became a sovereign state in 1964 after Tanganyika and Zanzibar, which were formerly distinct republics, were united. More than 99 percent of the united territories' entire area is covered by Tanganyika's mainland. Mafia Island is governed by the mainland, although Zanzibar and Pemba have their own independent governments. Centrally located on the mainland, Dodoma has served as Tanzania's formal capital since 1974. The country's major city and port is Dar es Salaam.
Tanzania is home to some of Africa's most well-known national parks and natural wonders, including Mount Kilimanjaro. As a result, safaris and wildlife-related experiences are the most popular things to do in Tanzania and the reason many visitors visit the nation. Most travelers will transit through Dar es Salaam on their way to the wilderness areas and other places. The magnificent beaches of Zanzibar call to those who wish to spend some time soaking up the rays.
