Steamy, sexy, and laugh-out-loud funny, THE TRUTH ABOUT COWBOYS is a new contemporary novel that will pull your heartstrings and steam up your e-reader…

While I was off pitching in the big leagues, my family was back in the small town of Sweetwater, Texas, running the family ranch. Then tragedy hit and I discovered there were secrets that my family kept, problems they hid. I went home, left behind the money, women, and fame. I took over the ranch and took care of my grandmother. I took over hiding the secrets. Then she came to town. A smart-mouthed, clumsy, too-smart-and-too-pretty-for-my-own-good city girl hiding out to write a book. She's right here, on my property, in the cottage my grandmother rented her without my permission, and she sees too much. She knows too much.

Now suddenly my world is spinning, and she's shoving a baseball back in my hand while baking cookies with my grandmother. She's the devil and an angel all in one fiery little package. I decide I'll wait her out. She'll go back to the city. Only suddenly I don't want her to leave, and everything I’ve settled for in my life isn't enough. I want to play ball and I want her, but there's that secret that won't let go, but neither will she.

This was a hard push and pull romance with a couple that often straddled the line between love and hate.

While Jessica is working on writing a divorce guide, her drunk friends talk her into writing a romance. Soon she’s doing both and each books shadows her emotions towards the jerky cowboy that is stealing her heart. From the highs to lows, her writing is a reflection of what she is experiencing with Jason. Unfortunately, it looks like she might have to dig further into fiction in order for the romance to have a happy ever after.

Jason was burned by a city girl and with the death of his parents and the condition of the ranch, his plate is full. He gave up pitching in order to take care of business and ensure his grandmother’s future. While he loves the ranch as well as his grandmother, his passion is baseball until he meets Jessica. Now he’s tormented with wanting it all and unable to make his complete dream come true.

I enjoyed these characters. Jessica was smart but a bit clumsy which led to some fun moments. Jason was damaged and carried the world on his shoulders but was too afraid to make the changes that would bring him peace. They were each wounded by life and afraid to yield to what was growing between them.

There is a lot of back and forth between Jessica and Jason which created a wealth of angst. With every decision Jessica made, Jason seemed to take it the wrong way. Even while they battled it out, the chemistry between them sizzled keeping this couple in a constant state of want and desire that pushed against what their minds told them.

This has a great pace to it, never bogging down. There is plenty of humor, lots of steam, and some amazing secondary characters I can’t wait to see more of. Overall, this was a great read for anyone who enjoys the push and pull of which this couple excels!
