Australia is a famous climate actor for the wrong reasons. It has a carbonised economy, is the world's largest exporter of coal and gas combined, and has been a wrecking ball in successive world climate conferences, most recently COP26 in Glasgow in November 2021.
The wrecking ball, then PM Scott Morrison, was defeated on 21 May 2022 by the reforming Integrity ALP (Labor) government led by Anthoby Albanese.
The popular goodwill towards him was overwhelming. The delivery has been patchy and the previous woeful economic performance was carried over instead of making a clean break.
