Aimed at dental students, this textbook covers those areas of general surgery with which a dental student needs to be familiar and secondly oral surgery, emphasizing the overlap between the two areas. The purpose of this book is to help the dental student arrive at an integrated understanding of both general and oral surgery, and to provide all that the dental students needs in these two areas. Coverage of basic principles of surgery is at a level appropriate for future dentists - a knowledge of general topics such as wound healing and sepsis is essential for all dentists. It also gives an understanding of those specialist areas of surgery which have particular relevance to dentistry, for example maxillofacial trauma, orthognathic surgery, management of cleft palate.
