If you are interested &/or passionate about Australia's native bird life you can't go past this book on pigeons and doves. Joseph Forshaw, the ornithologist, provides very detailed information regarding the life cycle and geographic distribution of each bird, just to name two aspects - he also discusses the breeding and care of these birds in captivity. William T. Cooper, the artist, illustrates Australian birds like no other artist (no exaggeration) - the images he produces are so life-like and vivid. There is another book which specifically focuses on the artwork of Mr Cooper (author: Penny Olsen) - the forward to this book is written by none other than David Attenborough, who has nothing but praise for the work of Mr Cooper - but I digress. I give this book on native pigeons and doves a score of 12 out of 10.
