Philip Oliver Ellard Hawkes was an accomplished architect of the first half of the twentieth century, who worked right across Australia, from Perth to Launceston, but principally in the Wide Bay region of Queensland. Despite the originality, creativity and beauty of his many designs he has become an obscure and forgotten figure; largely unknown and unrecognised. This new book by the Deputy Mayor of the Fraser Coast, George Seymour, seeks to uncover the frantically energetic, productive and sometimes chaotic life of this gifted architect.
