Excerpt from Asymptotic Efficiency of a Class of C-Sample Tests The H test of Kruskal and Wallis is a direct generaliza tion of the two-sample Wilcoxon test discussed in detail by Mann and Whitney and its limiting distribution has been derived by Kruskal [13] under the null hypothesis and by Andrews [1] under an alternative hypothesis. These results are generalized by those of the present paper concerning the limiting distribu tion of the f test.
