Damian Walford Davies is a Professor at Cardiff Universitys School of English, Communication and Philosophy. He is the author of 3 collections of poetry & a number of books & articles on Romanticism & the two literatures of Wales. Both his academic work & creative writing are characterised by an interest in the dialogue between poetry, the visual arts & architecture. In 2012 he published Ancestral Houses: Lost Mansions of Wales with Gomer.Mererid Hopwood is a Welsh poet who made history in 2001 by becoming the first woman ever to win the bardic Chair at the National Eisteddfod of Wales. Originally from Cardiff, she graduated with first-class honours in Spanish and German from the University of Wales, Aberystwyth. She has been a Lecturer in German at the University of Wales, Swansea, as well as a Creative Writing tutor in the Welsh Department. In 2003 she won the crown at the National Eisteddfod in Meifod, and in 2008 she was awarded the Eisteddfod's Prose Medal for her book O Ran. She is also an S4C presenter. She now lives in Carmarthen, with her husband and 3 children. In 2004 she published Singing in Chains with Gomer.ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPHER:Paul White has been photographing the derelict mansions and farmhouses of Wales for over 20 years. His porfolio is on: http://www.welshruins.co.uk . He has exhibited widely throughout Wales, and his work is held in private & public collections in the UK, Europe and the US. He works in black-and-white using a Japanese wooden field camera & traditional photographic methods. He has lived in the Tregaron area since 1983 & studied photography at Carmarthen College of Technology and Art. In 2012 he published Ancestral Houses: Lost Mansions of Wales with Gomer.

Damian Walford Davies

Damian Walford Davies is a poet, writer and librettist. He is the author of three Seren collections – Suit of Lights (2009), Witch (2012) and Judas (2015), together with the pamphlet Alabaster Girls (Rack Press, 2015) and the co-written volume, Whiteout (Parthian, 2006). He is head of the School of English, Communication & Philosophy at Cardiff University, where he specialises in Romanticism, the two literatures of Wales, and Creative Writing.
