Account of the historical process that conformed to the State of Durango, from pre-Columbian days to more current events. In the twentieth century, Sonora, Chihuahua and Coahuila were states of most importance than Durango, but in the early days of the colony it occupied a central position and thereafter it developed a stronger political scenario, economic, social and cultural identity and became one of the most important actors in national life of Mexico.
