This text for postgraduate students of classical mechanics and engineering includes information on special relativity, nonlinear oscillations and chaos in addition to the more usual topic of Lagrangian and Hamiltonian formulations, centralforce motion, small oscillations and rigid body motion. Other features include a number of problems, biographical sketches and a list of references and some computer programs to solve numerically integral and differential equations of classical mechanics. Much of the routine mathematics has been relegated to problems, with the intention that the text should not be cluttered or the physical argument lost in mathematical detail.
