From the authors:
*"As we become a more diverse society, we must also become more inclusive; the two go hand in hand and they are not tick-box activities. This book is to encourage Black educators who may be facing similar situations in their school settings. However, this book is also for those who are not Black so they can understand the experiences of Black educators, which will help to inform their practices as well as workplace systems. We hope we can foster true, long-lasting change that will create a diverse and inclusive environment that is equitable when it comes to addressing the issues faced by Black members of staff (Haque and Elliott, 2018).
As you read this book, you will hopefully find that there is something for you, or maybe you will see yourself in one of the experiences shared. Perhaps you are evaluating what you do well in your school and how you could improve, to ensure your school is moving in the right direction. We want everyone to learn from this book and to take heed of the words read, as it’s the little changes now that will have the greatest impact in the long run: for schools, teachers and the students we teach."*
