His celebrated ‘Life of Apollonius of Tyana’ is by far the longest biography to survive from classical times and it became one of the most widely discussed literary works of later antiquity. It employs an engaging style that brings to life its charismatic subject — a teacher and religious reformer that travels across the known world, from the Atlantic to the Ganges.
